Sydney service station targeted by masked robbers armed with Samurai swords

Two men armed with Samurai swords who robbed a western Sydney service station are on the run from police.

The owner of the petrol station in Georges Hall was preparing to leave for the evening on Sunday when he was rushed by the two men.

Peter Mondeddu told 7NEWS he was forced to hand over the day’s profits, which was about $1,000 in cash.

“I saw two guys walking with black masks, so I moved aside and called for help,” he said.

Peter Mondeddu told 7NEWS he was forced to hand over the day’s profits, which was about $1,000 in cash.

“I saw two guys walking with black masks, so I moved aside and called for help,” he said.

The men, who police say were armed with swords, took off in a black ute which had been waiting for them further up the road.

Detective Inspector Andrew Evans from the Bankstown Police Area Command condemned the robbery.

“This was a violent offence and their behaviour is predatory,” he said.

Mondeddu had only recently bought the service station and was working seven days a week to grow his business.

“It is definitely a loss because that’s obviously nearly a weekend of wages,” he said.

Anybody who recognises the thieves is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers.
