Sydney service station robbed by man with samurai sword

Police are on the hunt for a man who robbed a service station in Sydney’s west after producing a samurai sword from under his shirt and threatening staff.

A man armed with a samurai sword has threatened a staff member at a service station in Sydney’s west before demanding cash and fleeing the scene in a terrifying robbery.

The man entered the service station on Parramatta Rd, near Bachell St, Lidcombe, about 3am Wednesday.

Police say he approached the male employee at the counter before producing the samurai sword.

After fleeing with an unknown amount of cash, the man was seen getting into a vehicle parked outside.

The employee escaped unharmed and is assisting detectives from Auburn Police Area Command.
