Cigarettes stolen in Servo ram-raid

$8,000 worth of Cigarettes has been stolen in a ram-raid on a Service Station in Grovedale.

It happened at the Caltex on Torquay Road at around 4:55am this morning, with three men ramming a four-wheel drive into the front of the shop twice.

The offenders then entered before helping themselves to the cigarettes.

Owner of Affirmative Auto, which is a part of the Caltex, Jay McDougall told Geelong Broadcasters he is still trying to work out if anything else has been taken.

“Unfortunately, we haven’t fully assessed exactly what was stolen as yet, other than cigarettes,” he said.

“But it’s been quite a substantial theft.”

Jay also said the incident has forced him to close until the damage has been repaired.

“We’re not entirely sure yet, the contractors haven’t given us any information as to how long it will take.” he said.

Police belive the offenders fled in a dark coloured car.

Anyone who may have information is urged contact Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
